The Mines & Minerals Department, Govt. of Assam has Constituted the District Mineral Foundation Trust as approved DMF Trust Deed in all Districts of the State of Assam other than the districts in the Sixth Schedule Area under the provisions of Section 9B of the Mines & Minerals (Development & Regulation) Amendment Act, 2015 vide notification No. PEM.40/2015/100 & 101 dated 26th August, 2016. The Royalty to be paid by the lease holder as per the Gazette of India, Ministry of Mines Notification G.S.R. 715(E) New Delhi, 17th September, 2015.
The object of the District Mineral Foundation Trust is to work for the interest and benefit of persons, and areas affected by mining related operations in the Districts in such manner as may be pescribed by the State Government.
The Trust Fund shall be kept in one or more scheduled commercial Nationalised Banks only in the name of the Trust and all acoounts shall be operated under the joint signatures of the member-secretary and another member of the Managing Committee to be authorised by the Managing Committe. The Trust shall maintain the books of accounts of the Fund.
